Per-Recruit Analysis Learning Modules

In collaboration with The Nature Conservancy, Nature Analytics has developed learning modules that introduce the fundamental concepts of Yield-Per-Recruit (YPR) and Spawning Potential Ratio (SPR) and their relevance in fisheries management. These modules are tailored for those who are new to fisheries science, providing a structured guide to this set of topics. Rather than delving into exhaustive detail, these modules focus on how YPR and SPR can inform decisions like setting size limits and conducting length-based stock assessments.

Tips for Effective Use

  • Follow the Module Sequence: The modules are designed to be read in order, as each builds on the previous. We recommend starting from the beginning and progressing through the modules in order.
  • Check Prerequisites: Some modules include a “Recommended Prerequisite” notice, indicating essential knowledge from earlier content. It’s advisable to review these prerequisites before moving forward.
